Schlager under the open sky in the Castle Park

The Neschwitz Castle Park provides the idyllic backdrop for the Schlagernacht. The two-day event, with a prelude and main evening, has grown continuously since its beginnings and is now considered the largest Schlager open-air in the Upper Lusatia. The audience comes from the entire region between Bautzen, Görlitz, and Hoyerswerda – many families, many regulars.

Artists from DSDS and the Schlager scene

The festival focuses on a mix of established Schlager stars and talents who have celebrated their first successes in TV shows like Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS). The artists perform with professional stage technology, in an atmosphere that oscillates between a Volksfest (popular festival) and a concert.

Organized by the local sports club

Behind the Schlagernacht is SV Blau-Weiß Neschwitz e.V., a local sports club that fills its club coffers with the event and simultaneously puts the town on the cultural map. The volunteer team around the event performs a major logistical feat every year – including a shuttle service to the parking lots outside Neschwitz.

Neschwitz is located in the district of Bautzen (AGS 14625), state of Saxony, in the Upper Lusatia near the Lusatian pond landscape. The small municipality with its 18th-century castle is part of the bilingual Sorbian-German region.
