Two Days of Club Anniversary with a "Play for Fun" Football Tournament
Sportverein Bieberehren 1946 e.V. was founded on April 9, 1946, in the Gasthaus Adler by a group of young men, largely comprising the players from the pre-war team. As early as 1949/50 — four years after its founding — the first team won the championship of the B-Klasse Hohenlohe, securing the first title in the club's history. In the 1970s, members built a multi-purpose clubhouse at the sports ground through their own efforts; in 1988, the municipality — after years of effort by long-time chairman Michael Volkert — acquired the land for the current sports facility, which includes a grass pitch, tennis courts, and a clubhouse.
Bieberehren is a municipality in the southern District of Würzburg in the Bavarian administrative region of Lower Franconia. With a population of around 1,000, the community is situated on the Gollach river, in the historic Tauberfranken region, geographically at the transition between Mainfranken and the Hohenlohe region (Baden-Württemberg). This border location is also reflected in its sporting league participation: SV Bieberehren historically played in the Hohenlohe B-Klasse and today belongs to the Würzburg football district.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, starting at 4 PM, the festival weekend begins with the official ceremony in the festival tent at the sports grounds. The program includes a welcome address by the club chairman, greetings from the mayor and representatives of the BLSV (Bavarian Association for Amateur Sports), honoring of long-standing members, and a look back at 80 years of club history. Afterward, a local band will play for the festive evening, filling the tent until late into the night.
The sporting highlight is the "Jedermann-Fußballturnier" (play for fun football tournament) on Saturday, June 20, 2026, starting at 1 PM. This format is well-established in many Franconian village clubs: mixed hobby teams from the town, teams from friendly clubs, and improvised teams from associations, regular meeting groups, or circles of friends compete on small pitches. The rules are intentionally accessible — fun and camaraderie are prioritized over sporting ambition. The festival atmosphere, children's program, and catering by the club continue until the late evening.
Club anniversaries like the 80 years of SV Bieberehren are central community-building events in Franconian villages: generations meet, former players travel from all over Germany, and the village shows its connection to the club. For the market town of Bieberehren, the 2026 anniversary also serves as an occasion to visibly demonstrate the close bond between the club and the community — an important signal in a rural region where club structures support the social fabric.
The anniversary celebration spans two days. Friday, June 19, 2026, starting at 4 PM: official ceremony in the festival tent with welcome address, greetings, honoring of long-standing members, and a look back at 80 years of club history; followed by a festive evening with live music. Saturday, June 20, 2026, starting at 1 PM: "Jedermann" football tournament on the sports pitches — mixed hobby teams from Bieberehren and friendly clubs, fun over results. Alongside: festival activities, children's program, and festive conclusion in the tent in the evening. Free admission.
By car: Take the A7 motorway to the Marktbreit exit, then follow the B19/state road towards Bieberehren. Public transport: Train to Aub or Röttingen station, then take bus lines towards Bieberehren. Parking is available on the designated meadow parking lots at the sports grounds.
