Anniversary celebration of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Riedenheim, Franconia
The Volunteer Fire Brigade Stalldorf is one of the oldest brigades in the region and is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2026. Founded in 1886, the association has provided voluntary fire protection and technical assistance for the Stalldorf district of the municipality Riedenheim for generations. This is located in the Ochsenfurter Gau in the southern Würzburg district, one of the most fertile agricultural regions of Franconia.
The Würzburg district is one of the regions with the most fire brigades in Bavaria: over 200 volunteer brigades are organized within the Würzburg District Fire Brigade Association alone. During anniversary years, the brigades take turns inviting others to their celebrations – with return visits, association flags, parades, and joint morning pint gatherings. In 2026, Stalldorf joins this tradition and welcomes friendly brigades from the Würzburg district, the city of Würzburg, and the neighboring Tauber district.
The anniversary focuses on a single festival day in May. The day begins with a celebratory church service in honor of Saint Florian, followed by the ceremonial reception of invited brigades with flag escorts. After a joint parade through the village, the morning pint with brass music takes place in the festival tent. The afternoon features demonstrations by the youth fire brigade, vehicle displays, and a family program. The festival evening concludes with live music and dancing.
Riedenheim, to which Stalldorf belongs, is a community of 1,000 inhabitants on the edge of the Ochsenfurter Gau, about 25 kilometers south of Würzburg. Its location between the vineyards on the Main River and the Franconian agricultural and forest landscape makes the town and its anniversary attractive to guests from the region as well.
The 2026 anniversary celebration of the FFW Stalldorf is listed in the official schedule of the Würzburg District Fire Brigade Association. It begins with a celebratory church service in honor of Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, in the local parish church.
This is followed by the ceremonial reception of the invited brigades with their association flags, and then a parade through the village. In the festival tent on the grounds, Franconian brass and dance bands will play for the morning pint gathering. The afternoon features demonstrations by the youth fire brigade and a vehicle exhibition. The festival evening concludes with live music and dancing.
Stalldorf is located in the Würzburg district, a part of the municipality Riedenheim. By car via the A3 (exit Würzburg-Heidingsfeld) and the B19. By public transport via train to Ochsenfurt and then by bus.
Admission to the celebratory church service, parade, and festival tent is free. Food and drinks are paid for on site.
Friday, May 29, 2026 for the main festivities.
