About 140 Years FFW Stalldorf

With its 140th anniversary celebration, the Volunteer Fire Brigade Stalldorf joins the busy Franconian anniversary calendar in 2026. Stalldorf, a district of the municipality Riedenheim in the Würzburg district, celebrates its traditional fire brigade anniversary at the festival grounds with a ceremonial act, Franconian brass music, beer from a Lower Franconian brewery, and culinary delights from the grill. The festival follows the tradition of numerous Franconian fire brigade anniversaries coordinated by the Würzburg District Fire Brigade Association – a region where dozens of brigades celebrate their founding day each spring.

140 Years of Fire Protection in the Ochsenfurter Gau

The Volunteer Fire Brigade Stalldorf is one of the oldest brigades in the region and is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2026. Founded in 1886, the association has provided voluntary fire protection and technical assistance for the Stalldorf district of the municipality Riedenheim for generations. This is located in the Ochsenfurter Gau in the southern Würzburg district, one of the most fertile agricultural regions of Franconia.

A Franconian Fire Brigade Tradition

The Würzburg district is one of the regions with the most fire brigades in Bavaria: over 200 volunteer brigades are organized within the Würzburg District Fire Brigade Association alone. During anniversary years, the brigades take turns inviting others to their celebrations – with return visits, association flags, parades, and joint morning pint gatherings. In 2026, Stalldorf joins this tradition and welcomes friendly brigades from the Würzburg district, the city of Würzburg, and the neighboring Tauber district.

Festival Program

The anniversary focuses on a single festival day in May. The day begins with a celebratory church service in honor of Saint Florian, followed by the ceremonial reception of invited brigades with flag escorts. After a joint parade through the village, the morning pint with brass music takes place in the festival tent. The afternoon features demonstrations by the youth fire brigade, vehicle displays, and a family program. The festival evening concludes with live music and dancing.

Franconian Economy and Delicacies

  • Draught beer from a Lower Franconian brewery
  • Sausages, pork shoulder, and marinated beef
  • Franconian brass and dance bands
  • Demonstrations by the youth fire brigade
  • Vehicle exhibition

Riedenheim, to which Stalldorf belongs, is a community of 1,000 inhabitants on the edge of the Ochsenfurter Gau, about 25 kilometers south of Würzburg. Its location between the vineyards on the Main River and the Franconian agricultural and forest landscape makes the town and its anniversary attractive to guests from the region as well.
