20 Years of Model Railway Eldorado in the Upper Lusatia

The Modelleisenbahnland Oderwitz was founded in June 2006 in Niederoderwitz, a district of the municipality of Oderwitz (Görlitz district, Saxony) — as a club project with collectors, model builders, and railway enthusiasts. Over the past two decades, it has developed into one of the largest model railway experience centers in Central Germany. For its 20th anniversary, the club invites you to a grand festival weekend from May 1st to 3rd, 2026 — a long May weekend with an extended program.

1,800 Meters of Track, Large H0 Layouts, and Garden Railway

The Modelleisenbahnland offers a unique variety: two H0 layouts, 45 m and 22 m long, in full operation; a 1:32 scale garden railway that would fill an entire sports hall; a total of around 1,800 m of track in various gauges. Those who love detail can study lovingly designed landscapes, stations, and industrial facilities in miniature precision here. A special feature: an experience gastronomy where trains, not waiters, deliver food and drinks directly to the tables on rails.

Carrera Racetrack, Flea Market, Raffle

Another attraction is the 30 m long digital Carrera racetrack, which is in operation daily. During the festival weekend, the club is also organizing a model railway flea market, a women's fashion flea market, and a raffle with prizes from the world of model railways and model building. Anyone looking for H0 models or accessories will often find rare pieces from GDR production (Piko, Berliner TT-Bahnen e.V.) as well as current models at the flea market.

Saxony, Görlitz District, and Oderwitz

Oderwitz is located in Upper Lusatia in the Görlitz district of Saxony, near the Czech and Polish borders. The municipality is characterized by agriculture and small businesses; the Modelleisenbahnland in Niederoderwitz is one of its most important tourist destinations, attracting visitors from the entire tri-border area of Germany-Czech Republic-Poland, as well as from Berlin and Dresden. The Upper Lusatia region itself is known for its railway tradition (Umgebindehaus houses, Zittau narrow-gauge railway, Bertsdorf junction station) — the Modelleisenbahnland fits seamlessly into this heritage.
