A Fire Brigade Celebrates a Century Plus 50
The Neuengrün Volunteer Fire Brigade turns 150 years old in 2026. Neuengrün is a district of the town of Wallenfels in the Kronach district, in the heart of the Frankenwald. In a region where volunteer fire brigades have historically been central pillars of the village community, the 150th anniversary is one of the biggest club festivals of the year in the Frankenwald.
Anniversary Weekend June 27–28, 2026
The anniversary will be celebrated on the weekend of June 27 and 28, 2026. The program follows the classic structure of a Bavarian fire brigade anniversary: Festival evening with a festival tent on Saturday, festive church service and parade on Sunday with participating fire brigades from the Kronach district and representatives from the surrounding area. The organizer is the FFW Neuengrün, supported by the town of Wallenfels.
Wallenfels and Neuengrün
Wallenfels is a town in the Kronach district with around 2,700 inhabitants – Neuengrün is one of its districts, about five kilometers from the town center. The region is characterized by the Frankenwald, the Wallenfels rafting tradition, and a dense network of clubs. The 150-year festival of the FFW Neuengrün is part of a series of fire brigade anniversaries scheduled in Upper Franconia in 2025 and 2026.

Anniversary Festival 2026
On June 27 and 28, 2026, the 150th anniversary of the Neuengrün Volunteer Fire Brigade will be celebrated in the Neuengrün district of the town of Wallenfels (Kronach district, Frankenwald). A festival tent on Saturday, a festive church service, and a parade on Sunday will mark the weekend.

- Sunday, June 28: Festive church service, followed by a parade of participating fire brigades through Neuengrün, Frühschoppen (morning pint) in the tent, festival finale

Getting There
Wallenfels is located on the B173 between Kronach and Hof. By car: A9 exit Berg / Bad Steben, then follow signs for Wallenfels. Nearest major train station: Kronach on the Frankenwaldbahn line. From Wallenfels town center, the drive to Neuengrün district takes about 10 minutes.
