Tradition for over 200 years
The Regensburg Christmas Market on Neupfarrplatz is the oldest and largest Christmas market in the Upper Palatinate district capital, boasting a history of over 200 years. It is organized by the City of Regensburg through the Office for Public Order and Traffic; stallholders are regional traders and craftspeople.
Neupfarrplatz – the stage in the UNESCO Old Town
Neupfarrplatz is located in the heart of Regensburg's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, just a few steps from Regensburg Cathedral of St. Peter. The stalls are arranged around the Gothic Neupfarrkirche, with the stage in the center hosting daily performances by choirs, music schools, brass choirs, and the Regensburg Domspatzen. A historic children's carousel operates in the rear section.
What is on offer
The approximately 70 stalls offer handcrafted straw stars, glittering Christmas baubles, leather goods, gloves, as well as the usual assortment of mulled wine, punch, bratwurst, roasted almonds, and gingerbread. On Wednesdays, St. Nicholas visits the market and distributes small gifts to children; on this day, reduced rates apply at the carousel.

The market on Neupfarrplatz, together with the Romantic Christmas Market at Thurn und Taxis Palace, the Lucrezia Market on Haidplatz, and the market on Kohlenmarkt, forms the four main Christmas markets of Regensburg. The municipal Christmas market on Neupfarrplatz remains the traditional classic – freely accessible and without an entrance fee.

City festival on Neupfarrplatz
The 2026 Christmas Market will once again take over the central Neupfarrplatz with around 70 stalls, a stage in the market center, and a nostalgic children's carousel. The market opens on November 23rd and traditionally closes on the late afternoon of December 23rd.
On Wednesdays, St. Nicholas visits the market between 2 pm and 6 pm and distributes gifts to children; on this day, children ride the carousel at reduced prices.

Daily Stage Program
The program will be published successively in the weeks before the market opens, starting in early autumn 2026. The following recurring program elements are known:
- Daily stage performances with changing programs: choirs, brass choirs, music schools
- Performances by the Regensburg Domspatzen choir
- Strolling Musicians through the market alleys
- St. Nicholas visit every Wednesday (2 pm–6 pm) with small gifts for children
- Reduced-price children's carousel on Wednesdays

Regensburg Hauptbahnhof is about a 10-minute walk from Neupfarrplatz. By car: A3 or A93 exit Regensburg, then follow the parking guidance system; car parks Petersweg, Dachauplatz, or Neupfarrplatz-Tiefgarage are located directly at the market.
