Anniversary festival of the Kollbach Fire Brigade Association in the Dachau district
The Volunteer Fire Brigade Kollbach was founded in 1876, making it one of the oldest brigades in the Dachau district. Kollbach itself is a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Petershausen in the northern Dachau district, just under 40 kilometers northwest of Munich. As in many Bavarian villages, the fire brigade is not only a technical aid organization but also a cornerstone of village life: it organizes the May festival, a folk service, children's activities, and – every 25 or 50 years – the grand anniversary celebration.
From June 12th to 14th, 2026, the FFW Kollbach will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a three-day festival. The event kicks off with a tent party on Friday evening (7:30 PM) with service in the festival tent and dance music. Saturday, starting at 1 PM, is dedicated to the family afternoon with coffee and cake, games for children, and a relaxed get-together of the village community.
Festival Sunday (June 14th) begins at 8 AM with a traditional Weißwurst breakfast in the festival tent – a typical Bavarian tradition for association celebrations. At 12 PM, the grand parade will commence. All fire brigades of the municipality of Petershausen, local associations, friendly brigades from the Dachau district, traditional costume groups, and brass bands will march through the district. Afterwards, lunch will be served in the festival tent, followed by a festive conclusion in the afternoon with brass music.
A special feature of this anniversary: the high costs for the tent, lighting, sound system, parade, catering, and helper T-shirts are partly financed through the crowdfunding platform »Viele schaffen mehr« by VR Bank Erding-Dachau. In March 2026, with the support of citizens, the initiative reached its goal of 2,000 Euros and even collected slightly more – a wonderful sign of the strong social cohesion in an Upper Bavarian village centered around its fire brigade.
Petershausen is conveniently located on the S-Bahn line S2 to Munich and is the terminus station. Kollbach is one of the rural districts where traditional associations like the fire brigade and the shooting club are still firmly established. Visitors to the anniversary festival will get an authentic impression of Upper Bavarian village culture beyond the large Volksfeste.
From June 12th to 14th, 2026, the FFW Kollbach will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a three-day festival program. In the festival tent, residents of Kollbach and its neighboring towns will be served food and drinks, with brass music and dancing.
The highlight is the parade on Sunday at 12 PM with the participation of all fire brigades and associations of the municipality of Petershausen, as well as friendly brigades from the Dachau district. Before that, the traditional Weißwurst breakfast at 8 AM invites guests to the festival tent.
