One of the most popular Schützen- and Volksfeste in the district of Peine on the last weekend of July
The Volksfestgemeinschaft Woltorf e.V. is a remarkable example of the power of club life in a small village. Instead of a single shooting club organizing the festival on its own, the Woltorf clubs have joined forces to form a festival community that hosts the Volksfest together. This cooperative form ensures the festival tradition across generations and shares the organizational burden among many shoulders.
With the name Paradies (Paradise), the Woltorf festival grounds bear a poetic nickname that hints at its idyllic location. The natural boundaries of the grounds, the connection for the festival tents, and the proximity to the village centre make the area an ideal place for a large village festival. During the three festival days, a festival tent, shooting range, amusement park, catering stands, and a children's area are set up here.
The festive opening is marked by the parade on Saturday, which leads the club members, friendly clubs, and music groups through the village. The sporting highlight is the king's shooting, where the new monarchs are determined. The crowning in the festival tent is an emotional moment that continues the club tradition.
Saturday evening is traditionally dedicated to the Schützenball. A live band or DJ ensures a long festival night. The dance events on Friday and Sunday evenings attract a younger audience from the entire district and make the Woltorf Volksfest known beyond its club members.
Sunday is dedicated to Frühschoppen, family activities, and children's afternoon. The festival community consciously focuses on an intergenerational programme that includes grandparents, parents, and children alike. This inclusivity is key to the festival's sustained success.
The Paradies festival grounds will become the festival backdrop at the end of July. The parade, king's shooting, Schützenball, and Frühschoppen will follow the proven rhythm of previous editions and will be complemented by a family-friendly supporting programme.
Behind the festival is the Volksfestgemeinschaft Woltorf e.V., which, as an association of local clubs, organizes the festival together. This cooperative form ensures the festival tradition and shares the organizational burden among many shoulders.
The exact programme for 2026 will be published by the Volksfestgemeinschaft Woltorf in early summer 2026. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
