Double anniversary of the volunteer fire brigade and sports club — 150 + 75 years Mittelneufnach
Mittelneufnach is a small municipality in the Augsburg district in Bavarian Swabia, with around 1,000 inhabitants. Despite its modest size, the town boasts two traditional clubs: the Volunteer Fire Brigade (FFW), founded on June 16, 1876, and the Gymnastics and Sports Club (TSV), founded in 1951. Both are celebrating a significant anniversary in 2026 — 150 years of the FFW and 75 years of the TSV — and have decided to organize the festival weekend together.
The Mittelneufnach FFW is one of the oldest fire brigades in the Augsburg district. 150 years of continuous existence represent generations of voluntary fire and disaster protection for the municipality and neighboring towns. The motto perfectly captures their self-image: 'Rescuing, Extinguishing, Salvaging since 1876, we for Mittelneufnach 24/7'.
The TSV Mittelneufnach was founded in the post-war era and is now the sports center of the municipality — with departments for football, gymnastics, tennis, and general fitness. 75 years of club history are closely linked to the village's social fabric.
The festival weekend spans three days in July. The exact program will be gradually released in the months leading up to the festival — ceremonies, a parade, and a festival tent with live music and family activities are planned. The venue is the festival tent on the outskirts of Mittelneufnach.
Mittelneufnach belongs to the Augsburg-Land District Fire Brigade Association and the Augsburg district in the Bavarian administrative region of Swabia. Its location on the edge of the Stauden hills and near the Wertach river shapes the rural character of the municipality.
The dates July 17–19, 2026, have been officially confirmed by the Mittelneufnach Fire Brigade. The Volunteer Fire Brigade Mittelneufnach e.V. and TSV Mittelneufnach are jointly organizing. The first festival activities begin on Friday from 6 PM.
The detailed program will be published on the fire brigade's website in the months leading up to the festival. Typical components of Bavarian club anniversaries include: a gala evening with a live band, Sunday church service, a parade of clubs from the Augsburg district, a morning pint (Frühschoppen), and a formal ceremony with speeches and honors.
