Gießen Cultural Night

One Night, One City, 200 Events

The Gießen Cultural Night was first held in 2024 and celebrates its second edition in 2026 – a decentralized city festival where the central Hessian university city becomes a stage. More than 200 events are spread across 65 venues in the entire city center: theaters, galleries, cafés, bookstores, churches, university buildings, cinemas, clubhouses, bars.

2 PM Until Late at Night

Unlike classic "Long Nights," the Gießen Cultural Night starts in the afternoon at 2 PM and runs for 19 hours without interruption – until late at night. This makes it family-friendly and not just a nighttime event for adults.

Program Across All Genres

The program spectrum is intentionally broad: exhibitions in galleries and museums, readings in bookstores, city tours with various focuses, concerts from classical to pop, parties in clubs, theater and dance performances, films, workshops, and hands-on activities for all age groups.

Stadttheater Gießen as a Hub

The Stadttheater Gießen is one of the central venues. The 2026 program includes: theater tours, "Tea Time Jazz," "Little Lila Lieder," readings like "Rilke & Rhythmus," theater performances, and an intergenerational Cultural Night party starting at 10 PM.

Program Generator and Festival Wristband

New is an interactive online program generator, allowing visitors to create their personal Cultural Night program based on random selection – an original attempt to counter choice overload with 200 parallel events. The festival wristband serves as admission and program guide.
