Three-day anniversary celebration of the Mickhausen Fire Brigade in the Swabian Stauden region
Founded in 1876, the Volunteer Fire Brigade Mickhausen looks back on 150 years of commitment to the village community. From June 26th to 28th, 2026, the club is celebrating this milestone anniversary with a three-day festival on the community's festival grounds. Embedded in the traditional program of numerous fire brigade anniversaries planned by the District Fire Brigade Association Augsburg District for 2026, the Mickhausen festival will be one of the well-attended events of the season.
The club has adapted the festival concept for younger generations: Instead of classic brass band evenings, trendy bands from the Swabian-Bavarian music scene will be on stage. Celebrations, dancing, and Swabian festival beer will be served in the festival tent with around 800 seats. On Sunday morning, the traditional festival service is scheduled, followed by a parade of friendly fire brigades and clubs.
Mickhausen is a small community of around 1,700 inhabitants in the Augsburg district in Swabia (State of Bavaria). The municipality is located in the Augsburg β Western Woods Nature Park, in the heart of the hilly Stauden landscape between the Lech and Wertach rivers. The landmark is Mickhausen Castle with its baroque castle park. The Stauden administrative district, to which Mickhausen belongs, is known for its vibrant club landscape β fire brigades, marksmen's clubs, music clubs, and traditional costume groups are active in every village here.
As with any fire brigade anniversary in Bavaria, it's about more than just celebrating: The festival days are an opportunity to foster camaraderie with friendly brigades from the district, to recognize the voluntary commitment of active firefighters, and to recruit new members for the youth fire brigade. The motto of the Bavarian Volunteer Fire Brigades β "To God for honor, to the neighbor for defense" β presides over all festivals in this series.
Opening on Friday, June 26th, with a keg tapping ceremony and beer toast. Saturday evening live concert with two bands from the region. Sunday festival service at 9:30 AM, followed by the ceremonial parade in the afternoon with friendly fire brigades from the Augsburg district. Festival finale with cozy dance music until the evening.
Free admission. Food and drinks in the festival tent at usual club prices. Possible separate admission for band evenings β current information via the club's website and Instagram @ffw_mickhausen.
