Three times half a century: 150 Years FF Bonstetten
Founded in 1876, the Volunteer Fire Brigade Bonstetten is one of the traditional brigades in the western Augsburg district. In June 2026, it will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a three-day festival that brings together the entire Swabian community and numerous partner brigades from the northern Augsburg region. In the Bavarian tradition of founding festivals, a specially erected festival tent will be the center of events.
First District Children's Fire Brigade Day
The highlight of the program is the first District Children's Fire Brigade Day of 2026 for the Augsburg district. Children from the children's fire brigades—called "Feuerfüchse" (Fire Foxes) at FF Bonstetten—will compete in skill contests and games related to fire brigade technology. The event is co-organized by the District Fire Brigade Association Augsburg e.V. and is intended to be a permanent fixture in the calendar of brigades in the state of Bavaria.
Festival Tent, Parade, and Church Service
As is customary for Bavarian fire brigade anniversaries, the festival is divided into several classic program points: a festival evening with live music in the festival tent on Friday, a ceremonial act and honors on Saturday, a festive church service on Sunday morning, and a grand parade on Sunday afternoon with friendly brigades and associations from the district. Bonstetten is located about twelve kilometers north of Augsburg on the railway line to Donauwörth.
Active Brigade with Youth Work
Today, the FF Bonstetten is an active support brigade with a youth fire brigade and a children's fire brigade called "Feuerfüchse." The anniversary honors the voluntary commitment of 150 years of volunteer fire and disaster protection in rural Swabia.

Three Festival Days for the 150th Anniversary
From Friday, June 19th, to Sunday, June 21st, 2026, the Volunteer Fire Brigade Bonstetten invites you to its founding festival. The event combines the brigade's 150th anniversary with the first-ever District Children's Fire Brigade Day of the Augsburg District, a premiere event with games and competitions for children's fire brigades from across the district.
The classic program elements of Bavarian fire brigade anniversaries include a festival evening in the tent, a ceremonial act with honors, a festive church service, and a grand parade on Sunday afternoon with friendly brigades and associations from Swabia. A detailed daily program will be published on the festival website and the brigade's social media channels.

Getting There
Bonstetten is located twelve kilometers north of Augsburg on the Augsburg–Donauwörth railway line. Hourly regional train (DB RB 87) to Gablingen station, then five kilometers by bus or taxi. By car via the B 2 or A 8 (Augsburg-West exit).
