Three days of celebration and several weeks of festival week for the double anniversary of the Fire Brigade and Music Association Haunsheim
The double anniversary "150 Years FFW Haunsheim / 50 Years Musikverein Haunsheim" is the outstanding community festival of the year 2026 for the Swabian municipality of Haunsheim. Both associations – the Volunteer Fire Brigade, founded in 1876, and the Haunsheim Music Association e.V., founded in 1976 – are pillars of village life and are celebrating their round birthdays together in a festival week lasting several weeks.
The festivities span several weeks: opening events starting July 14, the anniversary weekend from July 24 to 26 as the core program, and concluding events until early August. Most events take place in the Kornstadl on Hauptstraße – a historic granary converted into a multifunctional event hall for the municipality, serving as the central stage for community festivals, concerts, and cultural events.
A highlight of the festival days is the performance by Munich cabaret artist Wolfgang Krebs on Saturday evening, July 25, with his current program "Bayern liebt DICH". Krebs is one of Bavaria's most prominent political cabaret artists and is legendary for his impersonations of Söder, Aiwanger, and other Bavarian politicians. The performance in Haunsheim is scheduled in the large festival tent.
Haunsheim is a small municipality with just under 800 inhabitants in the Dillingen an der Donau district in Swabia (State of Bavaria). The municipality is located on the northern Swabian-Danubian plateau between Donauwörth and Höchstädt an der Donau. Despite its small size, Haunsheim has a vibrant community landscape – fire brigade, music association, marksmen, traditional costume groups – and Haunsheim Castle with its orangery, which serves as a regional cultural center. The festival week impressively demonstrates how strongly the community spirit shapes public life, even in the smallest villages in Bavaria.
The anniversary weekend follows the classic format of Bavarian-Swabian fire brigade and music anniversaries: festival evenings with fellow associations, a festival service on Sunday morning, a grand parade on Sunday afternoon with music bands, floats, and traditional costume wearers from the region, and a festival finale with dance music in the beer tent. Swabian festival beer will be served in the festival tent.
The multi-week festival week includes opening concerts, festival evenings with fellow music associations and fire brigades, a beer and wine evening, a jazz brunch at Haunsheim Castle on July 12, and the core program from July 24 to 26. The central venue is the Kornstadl on Hauptstraße.
A large festival tent will be set up on the adjacent festival grounds from Thursday to Sunday. On Sunday afternoon, the parade will march through Haunsheim with music bands, association delegations, and floats.
Admission to festival evenings and the parade is free. For the Wolfgang Krebs show on 07/25, advance booking is available through the Haunsheim Music Association (tickets approx. €25–30). Food and drinks in the festival tent at usual association prices.
Haunsheim is located in the district of Dillingen an der Donau between Donauwörth (approx. 15 km) and Höchstädt an der Donau. By Car: B16 Donauwörth – Höchstädt, then country road to Haunsheim. By Train: Donauwörth or Höchstädt a.d. Donau station, then continue by regional bus. Parking: Large parking lots on the outskirts of town, free of charge.
Admission to most events is free. For the Wolfgang Krebs performance, separate advance booking is available through the Haunsheim Music Association.
