140 Years of Village Protection in the Health Resort

In the state of Saxony-Anhalt, in the Börde district, lies the health resort of Flechtingen — a small, prettily decorated village with a moated castle, a palace, and a tranquil landscape. The Flechtingen Volunteer Fire Brigade has been ensuring the village's safety since 1886. 2026 marks a significant anniversary: 140 years. The occasion for a three-day festival that involves the entire village.

Program Structure

The highlight is the parade on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, which starts precisely at 11 a.m. with a siren signal. Friendly fire brigades from the Börde district and beyond will march along, the historic fire engine will roll by, and clubs and schools will join in. Afterwards, the FFW Flechtingen opens its fire station for an open day with demonstrations, a bouncy castle, and bratwurst.

Sunday, September 20th, is dedicated to the traditional Schlachtefrühstück starting at 10 a.m. at the fire station — pre-orders at the Kurhaus Flechtingen. What sounds like folklore is actually a showcase of the region: regionally slaughtered, regionally cooked, enjoyed together at long tables.
