125 Years Volunteer Fire Brigade Hengdorf-Nemsdorf

The Volunteer Fire Brigade Hengdorf-Nemsdorf has been the most important emergency response and social network for the two districts of Hengdorf and Nemsdorf in the Mittelfranken municipality of Rohr i.Mfr. (Roth district, Bavaria) since the late 19th century. In 2026, the 125th club anniversary will be celebrated with a grand festival at the Festhalle Nemsdorf.

Fire Brigade Tradition in Mittelfranken

In Mittelfranken, a region shaped by both Catholic and Protestant traditions, fire brigade anniversaries have been among the largest village festivals for decades. They are far more than just club celebrations: they are cultural highlights where the village community, neighboring fire brigades, partner clubs, and festival queens come together. The 125th anniversary marks a particularly significant milestone and will be celebrated accordingly in the region.

Three-Day Program

The festival weekend runs from Thursday, May 14th (Ascension Day) to Saturday, May 16th, 2026. The venue is the Festhalle Nemsdorf on Steiner Straße. Following tradition, the program includes: a festive opening with a beer tapping ceremony, evenings of entertainment with live music, a festive church service, and a parade with friendly fire brigades and clubs from the Roth district.

Organizers and Community

The event is organized by the festival committee of the FFW Hengdorf-Nemsdorf, supported by the municipality of Rohr i.Mfr., the Roth District Fire Brigade Association, and numerous clubs in the region. Rohr is located on the southern edge of the Roth district, south of Schwabach and north of Greding, and is accessible via the A9 federal motorway and the B2 federal highway.
