Three days of celebration with Oimara concert, Friedi Kühne, Rieser Bude-6-Kampf and Half Marathon
TSV Mönchsdeggingen 1926 e.V. is the central sports club of the municipality of the same name in the Ries district of Donau-Ries. Founded in 1926, it has maintained its position as a fixture in Swabian-Bavarian club life for over a century — with football, gymnastics, tennis, Bavarian curling (Stockschießen), and athletics. The anniversary festival from July 24th to 26th, 2026, is the central celebration for the 100th birthday.
The event kicks off with a concert evening featuring two stage acts: Oimara, one of the most successful dialect singer-songwriters in the Alpine region (number 1 hits, up to 6 million monthly listeners on Spotify), and the young band Maddabrasska as support.
During the day, two prominent talks: Philipp Pflieger, former German Vice Marathon Champion and Olympian, speaks about elite sports and mental training; Friedi Kühne, one of the world's best highliners (slackline world records), shares stories from his expeditions. Afterwards, the Rieser Bude-6-Kampf begins — a humorous club competition between the stalls of surrounding villages with classic and quirky disciplines.
The sporting highlight is the Half Marathon through the Nördlinger Ries — the course leads through the hills of the Ries crater, one of Germany's most spectacular geological formations.
Mönchsdeggingen is located on the southern edge of the Nördlinger Ries crater, about 8 kilometers southwest of the medieval town of Nördlingen. The area is characterized by the unique geology of the Ries (impact of an asteroid 14.5 million years ago), which encloses fields, hill ranges, and villages in an almost circular depression. This provides a breathtaking backdrop for sporting events.
