Four-day wine festival on the Moselle riverbank with vintner stalls, live music, and guided wine cellar tours with 9-wine tasting
With its magnificent Art Nouveau buildings and underground wine cellars, Traben-Trarbach is one of the most impressive wine towns on the Moselle. In the 19th century, the town was the second-largest wine trading center in Europe after Bordeaux – a history that is still visible today in the cellars beneath the city. The Moselwein-Festival uses this backdrop for four days of wine enjoyment on the riverbank.
Along the Trarbach riverfront promenade, a series of vintner stalls will be set up over the four festival days, presenting their current vintages by the glass. Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder, Sekt (sparkling wine), and Federweißer (new wine, depending on the season) will be offered against the impressive backdrop of the Moselle and the bridge to Traben. Regional restaurateurs will complement the offerings with Flammkuchen (flatbread pizza), Winzervesper (vintner's snack), Bratwurst (grilled sausage), and sweet specialties.
A central stage will provide musical entertainment throughout the festival. Cover bands, regional acts, and party music will alternate. The audience is mixed – locals, hiking guests, and international visitors discovering the Moselle Valley on a summer weekend.
A special feature is the guided wine cellar tours on Friday, July 10th, and Sunday, July 12th. Each tour lasts about two and a half hours and leads participants through the region's historic cellars. The explanations are accompanied by a tasting of nine carefully selected wines – a dense program that provides insight into the history and current quality of Traben-Trarbach's viticulture.
Four days of summer festival atmosphere against the backdrop of Traben-Trarbach: The festival mile on the riverbank opens daily in the afternoon and fills up towards the evening with guests from the region and neighboring countries. The selection of participating vintners showcases the full spectrum of the Middle Moselle – from established family wineries to younger operations.
The guided wine cellar tours on Friday and Sunday are the special feature for 2026: they combine history, sensory experience, and the unique ambiance of Traben-Trarbach's underground cellars into a rich, high-quality experience.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
The list of participating wineries and gastronomy stands will be published shortly before the festival on the website of the city of Traben-Trarbach.
