From July 15 to August 2, 2026, the 42nd edition of the Zelt-Musik-Festival Freiburg (ZMF) runs on the Mundenhof grounds on the city's edge. Nineteen days of programming spread across several tents cover classical, jazz, rock, pop, world music and cabaret. 2026 headliners include LaBrassBanda, Madsen, and the already sold-out 30th-anniversary tour of Sportfreunde Stiller.

Biberach Schützenfest: schoolchildren in historic costume
From July 17 to 26, 2026, the free imperial town of Biberach an der Riß turns into one continuous festival backdrop. The Biberach Schützenfest ranks among Germany's oldest and most storied children's and heritage festivals. Over ten festival days, schoolchildren parade through town in historic costume, alongside Schützentheater performances in the Komödienhaus and the "Tanz durch die Jahrhunderte" with elaborate choreography.
July 26 marks the close of this ten-day edition. Where else do primary schoolchildren walk through their own town as a living history book? The Schützenfest puts a tradition on the street that many towns lost long ago.
Rutenfest Ravensburg: Upper Swabia's biggest children's festival
From July 24 to 28, 2026, Ravensburg becomes a festival stage for five days. The Rutenfest is considered Upper Swabia's biggest children's and heritage festival and one of Baden-Württemberg's most tradition-rich events. At the Kuppelnau festival grounds, Marienplatz and the historic old town, parades of hundreds of costumed schoolchildren alternate with the Adlerschießen shooting contest for grammar-school students.

Stuttgart PRIDE: the state's biggest queer festival
From July 10 to 26, 2026, Stuttgart PRIDE runs as Baden-Württemberg's biggest queer festival. After weeks of readings and performances, the festival reaches its peak this weekend: the CSD-Hocketse street party from July 24 to 26 on Marktplatz and Schillerplatz, and the CSD march through downtown on July 25 ending with a rally at Schlossplatz. The 2026 motto: "Ohne Uns kein Wir" ("No us, no we").

Rossini in Wildbad: bel canto opera in a spa town
From July 23 to August 2, 2026, the 37th edition of "Rossini in Wildbad" runs in the spa town of Bad Wildbad in the Calw district — one of Europe's most renowned bel canto opera festivals. Venues are the Grand Kursaal and the Königliches Kurtheater. Six operas in four languages and around 20 performances make up the program, including "L'occasione fa il ladro", "La gazza ladra" and "Le mariage en poste".
This weekend falls in the festival's second week. No rock concert, no crowds: Rossini in Wildbad remains this weekend's quietest but most internationally respected date.
Schloss Salem Open Airs: concerts inside a former abbey
From July 24 to August 2, 2026, Roland Kaiser, Tream, David Garrett and Michael Patrick Kelly play the historic Schlossgarten of Schloss Salem in the Bodenseekreis. Four open-air concerts bring southern Germany's summer concert scene back to the former Cistercian abbey — run by the same promoter since 2005, at one of the most atmospheric venues between Lake Constance and the Linzgau.

Haller Jakobimarkt: 800 years of market tradition
From July 24 to 27, 2026, the Haller Jakobimarkt turns the historic salt-works town of Schwäbisch Hall into a four-day market fair. Over 800 years of tradition sit behind one of southern Germany's oldest markets: on the Haalplatz and throughout the old town, around 100 traders sell textiles, leather goods, knitwear, household and basket ware, and cosmetics from Saturday through Monday.
A market instead of a concert stage: this weekend, the Jakobimarkt offers an entry older than any band's history in the state — and it still draws crowds from across the region every year.
Freiburger Seefest: 40 years of Seepark, marked in style
For three days in late July, the Seepark around the Flückigersee in Freiburg's Betzenhausen district turns into a lakeside festival ground. The Freiburger Seefest is one of the Black Forest's biggest city festivals — a mix of live music, variety acts, children's programming and a water spectacle right on the shore. 2026 is a special year: the Seepark turns 40, marked by its first-ever large water and laser show.

Indian Film Festival Stuttgart: the biggest of its kind in Europe
From July 23 to 26, 2026, the 23rd Indian Film Festival Stuttgart takes over the downtown cinemas EM/CINEMA and GLORIA on Königstraße. It's the biggest festival for Indian cinema in Europe and one of the most significant dates for subcontinental film production outside Asia. Current Bollywood and independent Indian productions screen alongside audience talks in both cinemas. Organized by Filmbüro Stuttgart.

Friday brings medieval rock band In Extremo as part of their "Carpe Noctem" castle tour; Saturday follows with Swiss hard rock heavyweights Gotthard and Krokus as a double headline. The venue is the medieval town castle rising above Esslingen's old town.

Ochsenfest Poppenweiler: only every other year
From July 24 to 27, 2026, the Poppenweiler music club hosts its traditional Ochsenfest on the festival grounds in this Ludwigsburg district. Four days of folk festival built around a whole ox on the charcoal grill, live bands, the Ochsenfest Olympics and the Ochsen-Gaudi.
