About Seefest Freiburg
Seefest Freiburg — edition 2026
The 2026 Lake Festival marks a special anniversary: 40 years of Seepark, the recreational area in western Freiburg established in 1986 for the State Garden Show. For its milestone birthday, FWTM, together with Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau, offers a program showcasing the full spectrum of the Lake Festival: concerts on multiple stages, variety show stations, an expanded children's program, and for the first time, a large-scale water and laser show directly on Flückigersee.
As in previous years, admission is free on all three festival days. The detailed hourly program, including stage lineups and show times, will be published shortly before the event on freiburger-seefest.de.

40 Years Seepark — An Anniversary with Water and Light
The Seepark in western Freiburg was opened in 1986 for the State Garden Show. Four decades later, it's an indispensable part of everyday life in Freiburg — as a green recreational area, swimming spot, and event venue. The 2026 Lake Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary with a new highlight: for the first time, a spectacular water and laser show on Flückigersee, where light projections, fountains, and music merge into a three-dimensional spectacle. Traditional fireworks are increasingly being replaced by such drone and light shows — the Lake Festival is keeping pace with the times.
Three Days, Multiple Stages, Great Atmosphere
The Lake Festival is a three-part summer program: Friday evening kicks off the festival with live music and initial concerts on various stages around the lake. Saturday sees the program intensify — from pop, rock, and cover bands to DJs at different locations. Sunday is more family-oriented: Children's Olympiad, variety show stations, interactive activities, and amusement rides for the little ones. Throughout the event, there are food stalls offering Baden cuisine, international specialties, ice cream, and cocktail bars.
Summer Vibes by the Water
What makes the Lake Festival special is its location: Flückigersee forms the natural center, with stages, stalls, and amusement rides spread around the shore. Those who wish can take a dip in the lake between concerts, relax on the sunbathing lawn, or rent a paddleboat. The atmosphere is noticeably more relaxed than at a traditional Volksfest — typically Freiburg, green, with many families, students, and neighbors from the surrounding districts of Betzenhausen, Lehen, and Mooswald.
Freiburg im Breisgau — The Sunny City by the Black Forest
Freiburg im Breisgau, with around 235,000 inhabitants, is the fourth-largest city in Baden-Württemberg and is considered Germany's sunniest city. Nestled between the Black Forest, Kaiserstuhl, and the Rhine plain, Freiburg attracts millions of visitors every year. The Lake Festival is part of a rich summer event calendar, which ranges from the Freiburg Wine Fair to the Zelt-Musik-Festival and the Schlossbergfest. The Lake Festival represents the family-friendly, broad appeal of Freiburg's summer — not an elitist festival, but an open city festival for everyone.
