A Tent Fair Tradition

While many Westerwald fairs hold their live music on open-air stages or in several venues, the Zeltkirmes Selters focuses on the classic festival tent concept. This format, originally associated with the large Volksfests, has been preserved in Selters as a characteristic feature. The heated tent creates the necessary festive atmosphere even in the often already autumnal temperatures.

Selters in the Westerwald

The town of Selters is located in the southwestern part of the Westerwald district and is the seat of the administrative district of the same name. Selters is known for its mineral water tradition — water from the Selters springs has been bottled and distributed in Europe for centuries. The small-town atmosphere and the close connection of the population make the fair a true Stadtfest (town festival).

Program Structure

The Zeltkirmes follows the classic four-day structure of Westerwald Volksfests: Opening on Thursday or Friday evening with a concert or DJ, main program on Saturday with live bands in the tent, Frühschoppen (morning pint) and family program on Sunday, Frühschoppen and closing on Monday. The exact program for 2026 will be announced by the organizer in advance.

The Autumn Fair Character

An autumn fair has its very own charm: the warm interiors of the festival tent, the cool outside air, the first seasonal foods, and the character of a "last big celebration" before the contemplative Advent season create a special atmosphere. Those who missed the summer fairs will find a late opportunity here to experience Westerwald festival culture.
