Fair with Island Atmosphere

The Wyker Jahrmarkt is the annual autumn folk festival on the North Sea island of Föhr. The venue is the Heymannsparkplatz in the centre of the island's capital, Wyk auf Föhr. For five days, the square transforms into a classic North German fair with rides, carousels, and colourful hustle and bustle – a welcome change at the end of the main holiday season.

Rides and Atmosphere

The programme includes:

• Bumper cars – a classic for teenagers and families
• Carousels and children's rides
• Shooting galleries with throwing tasks and skill games
• Market stalls with sweets (candy floss, candied almonds, gingerbread hearts) and savoury snacks (bratwurst, pizza, currywurst, fish rolls)
• Light show: colourful lighting over the fairground, light effects with the rides
• Music accompanying the rides

Family Day

Monday is traditionally Family Day: reduced prices on rides and game stalls make the last day of the fair particularly affordable for families. This Family Day is a hallmark of the Wyker Jahrmarkt and distinguishes it from many other folk festivals in Schleswig-Holstein.

Wyk auf Föhr is the only town on the North Sea island of Föhr and also the island's capital. The island belongs to the district of Nordfriesland in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and is accessible via ferry from Dagebüll. With around 4,500 inhabitants, Wyk is a lively island centre – even in autumn, when the main holiday season is over. The fair traditionally concludes the summer season and is a final highlight before the quieter winter season.
