Over 160 Years of Marksmen Tradition

When the Wulsdorfer Schützenverein von 1861 calls for the Schützenfest, a tradition with deep roots comes alive in the Wulsdorf district. The club is one of Bremerhaven's largest marksmen's clubs and looks back on over 160 years of history. From May 29th to 31st, 2026, there will once again be three days of celebration, shooting, and crowning — a fixed date in the calendar of southern Bremerhaven.

Competition, Crowning, and Camaraderie

The focus is on the sporting competitions: the Adler shooting for the dignity of King and Queen, and archery. In 2025, Detlef Stürcken and Anke Hasselbring held the royal dignity in the Adler shooting, while Marcus Klönner won in archery. Around the competitions, the festival parade, the crowning of the King and Queen, the Scheibenkönige (target kings), and social gatherings are part of the three-day program. Traditionally, a Katerfrühstück (hangover breakfast) follows — a lovingly maintained custom that rounds off the festive days.

More Than Just a Shooting Competition

The Wulsdorfer Schützenfest is much more than a sporting competition: it is a piece of club and district culture that connects generations. Beyond the festival, the club shapes the entire year with spring and autumn shoots, city championships, and the city king's shoot — the Schützenfest is the social highlight of this annual cycle.

In the Wulsdorf District

The venue is the southern Bremerhaven district of Wulsdorf. The marksmen's club has been anchored here since 1861 and, with its festival, shapes the neighborhood life — tradition and camaraderie in the south of the port city.
