Traditional four-day fair in the Münsterland region's Tecklenburger Land
In the heart of late summer, the residents of Neuenkirchen open up their town centre for one of the most well-known Kirmes (funfairs) in the Steinfurt district. With the Neuenkirchener Kirmes, the central town area experiences four days of hustle and bustle from showmen, carousels, stalls, and thousands of visitors from the Münsterland and the Tecklenburger Land region. The event is organised by the municipality of Neuenkirchen.
More than 50 stalls and rides line up in the town centre. Among the classics that are set up every year are:
The visual highlight is the fireworks display on Saturday evening. A colourful spectacle unfolds over the town centre, traditionally attracting many visitors from the entire surrounding area. Spots around the central stage fill up quickly – it's best to arrive early.
Monday is traditionally Family Day: reduced prices for rides, often discounted food for children. For families from Neuenkirchen, Wettringen, Salzbergen, Hopsten, and the surrounding area, this is the ideal day for a relaxed Kirmes visit without the weekend crowds.
