Four days of funfair with over 50 stalls, rides, fireworks, and a family day in the Neuenkirchen municipality
The Neuenkirchener Kirmes has been celebrated for decades in the municipality of Neuenkirchen. The event is organized by the municipality of Neuenkirchen in cooperation with showman associations. Neuenkirchen is located between Soltau and Bispingen, about 80 kilometers south of Hamburg and 70 kilometers north of Hanover.
The fairground hosts more than 50 stalls and rides. Highlights include dodgems (Auto-Tamponneuses), the Music Express thrill ride, the Breakdance, and several smaller carousels for younger children. Shooting galleries, ring toss games, and amusement rides complement the offerings. Food stalls serve French fries, bratwurst, crêpes, candied almonds, cotton candy, and gingerbread hearts.
A highlight of the weekend is the grand firework display on Saturday evening. It is set off around 10:30 PM and illuminates the fairground as well as the surrounding heathland. Families, teenagers, and festival-goers gather on the meadows around the fairground to marvel at the spectacle.
Monday is explicitly designed as a family day. Rides and carousels offer reduced prices, and many stalls participate with special promotions. Families from Neuenkirchen and the surrounding heathland municipalities use the day to give their children a relaxed Kirmes visit.
On Friday and Saturday, the Kirmes opens in the afternoon and closes at 11 PM. On Sunday, the festivities begin at 11 AM with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) and end at 10 PM. On Monday, the Kirmes opens in the afternoon and closes at 10 PM.
The mid-August date falls within the Lower Saxony summer holidays and guarantees high visitor numbers from Neuenkirchen and the surrounding heathland communities. Numerous holidaymakers staying in the region's guesthouses and campsites also use the festival as a program item for their holiday week.
The main attractions are documented in the source notes: Dodgems (Auto-Tamponneuses), Music Express, Breakdance, and numerous smaller carousels. Showmen from Northern Germany are regular guests, complementing the offerings with their specialties.
