Return after Festival Year Break

2025 was dedicated to Wolfen's 625th-anniversary celebration – the Wolfen Summer Festival was therefore paused for a year. In 2026, the tradition will be resumed: From May 29 to 31, citizens and guests from the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district will once again meet on the Fuhneinsel in the Fuhneaue Wolfen, one of the green district centres of Bitterfeld-Wolfen.

Three Days of District Culture

The festival thrives on the commitment of its clubs, initiatives, and catering businesses. The programme includes an open-air summer cinema in the evening, live music stages with regional bands, a colourful family day with hands-on activities for children, and the long-legendary Stawo Revival Party in Wolfen – a reunion with the music of past decades. Local restaurateurs provide bratwurst, cake, beer, and summery drinks.

Bitterfeld-Wolfen — A City in Transition

The Wolfen Summer Festival symbolises the transformation of the twin city in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The former GDR chemical centre – once shaped by the ORWO film factory and the chemical combine – has become a modern city with revitalised districts and renatured river landscapes along the Fuhne and Mulde rivers. The Fuhneinsel between Steinfurth and Wolfen is now a local recreation area and festival ground.

Participate, Don't Just Watch

What distinguishes the Summer Festival: It is not a consumer event, but a district festival with real actors. From the carnival club to the fire brigade to the shooting guild – anyone active in Wolfen gets involved. This is exactly what makes its charm.
