Wolfen Summer Festival — edition 2026
After the 625th anniversary of Wolfen in 2025, the classic summer festival format returns to the Fuhneinsel in 2026. In spring 2026, the city of Bitterfeld-Wolfen launched an official call for catering businesses and clubs to participate in the festival. Numerous regional players from the city area as well as the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district are expected.

- Evening — Festival opening on the Fuhneinsel

- Daytime — Stage programme with clubs, dance and music groups
- Gastronomy mile with local businesses
- Evening — Stawo Revival Party (Wolfen's legendary disco format with music from the 80s and 90s)
Day 3 — Sunday, May 31, 2026
- Family Day with hands-on activities for children
- Crafting activities, bouncy castles, face painting
- Afternoon stage with folklore ensembles and children's choirs
- Winding down in the evening

Getting There
Bitterfeld-Wolfen is reachable by ICE/IC in 1 hour from Berlin and 30 minutes from Halle/Leipzig. From Wolfen station, take a bus or bicycle to the Fuhneinsel. Parking spaces are signposted in the surrounding area.
Admission
Free for all events.
Catering
On-site by local restaurateurs and clubs. Bringing your own food is generally permitted; glass bottles are not recommended.
Families
Sunday is traditionally Family Day with play activities.
Return after Festival Year Break
2025 was dedicated to Wolfen's 625th-anniversary celebration – the Wolfen Summer Festival was therefore paused for a year. In 2026, the tradition will be resumed: From May 29 to 31, citizens and guests from the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district will once again meet on the Fuhneinsel in the Fuhneaue Wolfen, one of the green district centres of Bitterfeld-Wolfen.
Three Days of District Culture
The festival thrives on the commitment of its clubs, initiatives, and catering businesses. The programme includes an open-air summer cinema in the evening, live music stages with regional bands, a colourful family day with hands-on activities for children, and the long-legendary Stawo Revival Party in Wolfen – a reunion with the music of past decades. Local restaurateurs provide bratwurst, cake, beer, and summery drinks.
Bitterfeld-Wolfen — A City in Transition
The Wolfen Summer Festival symbolises the transformation of the twin city in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The former GDR chemical centre – once shaped by the ORWO film factory and the chemical combine – has become a modern city with revitalised districts and renatured river landscapes along the Fuhne and Mulde rivers. The Fuhneinsel between Steinfurth and Wolfen is now a local recreation area and festival ground.
Participate, Don't Just Watch
What distinguishes the Summer Festival: It is not a consumer event, but a district festival with real actors. From the carnival club to the fire brigade to the shooting guild – anyone active in Wolfen gets involved. This is exactly what makes its charm.
