Four days of wine, summer vibes, and enjoyment in Solingen's city centre
The Winzerfest Solingen City Centre has been a fixture of the summer calendar in the 'City of Blades' for years. In 2026, this classic event will present itself in a new guise: instead of the usual two days, the Winzerfest will now be celebrated for four days, from Thursday, August 6th to Sunday, August 9th, 2026. Furthermore, it will be organisationally decoupled from the "Echt Scharf" summer party — both events will have their own date and atmosphere from 2026 onwards.
Winemakers and selected catering businesses will set up their stalls in the Solingen pedestrian zone around Hauptstraße. Here you can sample wines from classic German growing regions — Mosel, Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Nahe, Baden, Württemberg, and Franken are usually represented. There will also be some international drops from Italy, Spain, or France. The stalls open daily in the afternoon and remain open into the evening hours.
Small stages will be set up at various points in the city centre. The programme ranges from jazz combos and singer-songwriters to cover bands with classic summer sounds. The atmosphere is convivial: you can sit at high tables or small bistro seating groups, easily strike up conversations with winemakers and other guests, and enjoy the warm summer light in the Bergisches Land city.
The participating restaurants and snack bars will serve suitable dishes to accompany the wine: Bergisches specialities like Reibekuchen (potato pancakes), along with tapas, antipasti, cheese platters, tarte flambée, and bratwurst creations. The city centre restaurateurs also use the Winzerfest to present their own menus in their outdoor seating areas.
The organiser is the W.I.R. e.V., the Solingen City Centre Business and Interest Association. The association represents the retailers, restaurateurs, and service providers of the city centre and organises several events throughout the year, from the Solinger Lichterfest (Festival of Lights) to the Bergisches Oktoberfest. With the reorientation in 2026, W.I.R. aims to establish the Winzerfest as a standalone summer highlight.
Solingen, with around 160,000 inhabitants, is centrally located between Wuppertal, Düsseldorf, and Cologne. The city is easily accessible via the A3 motorway and the S-Bahn lines S1 and S7. During the Winzerfest, many city centre shops offer extended opening hours — perfect for a long weekend of strolling, tasting, and enjoying.
With the 2026 edition, the Winzerfest starts in a new format: four days instead of two and a separate date independent of "Echt Scharf". Stalls with wines from Mosel, Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Nahe, Baden, and Württemberg, plus regional cuisine and several small stages with live music in the Solingen pedestrian zone.
