Open courtyards and cellars in autumn
The Winzer-Hof-Fest Pommern moves wine tasting from the festival tent back to its original context: into the courtyards and cellars of the vintners, where the wines mature and are cared for all year round. This decentralized form of event has gained considerable popularity on the Mosel in recent years – it allows for conversations, learning, and sensory experiences that a classic wine festival cannot offer.
The main street of Pommern becomes a tasting promenade. The entrance to each participating courtyard is marked as a tasting station. Guests enter the courtyards, the vintners personally welcome them, present their current wines, and answer questions about locations, vines, production, and vintage. The atmosphere is familiar and relaxed – no one is rushed to the next stand.
The wines come exclusively from the Pommern vintners and range from light summer wines and fresh Rieslings from the current harvest to mature Pinot Noirs, Auslesen, and sparkling wine specialties. Each courtyard designs its own program – from the classic tasting glass to small vertical tastings and guided vineyard presentations.
Culinary offerings at the courtyards include vintner's snacks, tarte flambée, cheese from the Eifel region, and autumn specialties. Acoustic music groups provide atmospheric accompaniment at several stations. The event is ideal for wine connoisseurs seeking an authentic Mosel experience beyond the large festival tents.
The Winzer-Hof-Fest 2026 in Pommern will take place from Friday, September 18th, to Sunday, September 20th. The Pommern Vintners' Association is the organizer. Participating courtyards will open late Friday afternoon, and from midday on Saturday and Sunday.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Pommern Vintners' Association in late summer. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years:
Highlights: Direct encounters with the Pommern wine-growing families, Rieslings and Pinot Noirs from the steep slopes of the Martberg, decentralized concept without a large festival tent, vintner's snacks and tarte flambée in the courtyards, acoustic music at several stations, calm wine-typical atmosphere.
Free admission. Festival glasses and tasting tokens available at participating courtyards.
Getting there: By car via the B49. By train to Cochem or Treis-Karden, then by bus.
Admission: Free. Festival glasses and tasting tokens available at participating courtyards.
Tip: Sturdy footwear for the cobblestone paths. Can be combined with a hike to the Martberg or a boat trip on the Mosel.
