As the Advent season begins, the city center of Troisdorf becomes the "Winterwald" (Winter Forest). Fir trees adorn the squares, rustic wooden huts line up, and sparkling lights bathe the town center in an atmospheric glow. For years, the Winterwald has been one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the Rhein-Sieg district and is the first port of call for families from the region.

75 Stalls with Local Vendors

More than 75 stalls are spread across Kölner Straße and Von-Loe-Straße. Local vendors and associations present mulled wine, punch, regional specialties and sweets, arts and crafts, gift ideas, and Christmas decorations. Unlike large commercial Christmas markets, the regional character dominates here.

Family-Friendly with Carousel and St. Nicholas

For children, there is a historic carousel and a visit from St. Nicholas with his own time slot. In addition, there are craft activities, a fairy tale reading hour, and small gifts from the Christkind (Christ child). The Winterwald is explicitly designed as a family market.

Stage Program with Choirs and Concerts

On the central stage, church choirs, school choirs, brass ensembles, and small bands take turns performing on all three days of the festival. The program is classically festive, with contemplative and celebratory pieces.

Sunday Shopping

On Sunday, November 29, 2026, Troisdorf's shops will open their doors for the first Sunday shopping of the Advent season. The market and retail complement each other – visitors can shop and enjoy simultaneously.

Troisdorf in the Rhein-Sieg District

With around 75,000 inhabitants, Troisdorf is one of the largest cities in the Rhein-Sieg district, located southeast of Cologne and north of Bonn. With Schloss Wissem, the Anhausen moated castle, and the neighboring Wahner Heide, Troisdorf offers rich excursion destinations. The Winterwald is part of the annual event calendar and marks the start of the Troisdorf Advent.
