Culture night with concert snippets in the castle, Marstall, and St. Marien Church Winsen
The Winsener Schlossnacht has been a fixture in the cultural calendar of the district town of Winsen an der Luhe since 2014. The concept is unique: instead of a single long concert, various music programs are played simultaneously in three historic venues in short snippets of 20 minutes each. Visitors wander from venue to venue, putting together their own musical night.
The 11th edition will take place as a single evening event. Starting at 7 PM, the program runs well into the late evening. Three venues in operation simultaneously: St. Marien Church, Marstall, and Castle Chapel.
St. Marien Church is Winsen's central Protestant town church, an imposing late Gothic building with excellent acoustics for choral and organ music. The Marstall, a historic horse stable building, now serves as a cultural space with concert seating. The Winsen Castle Chapel, a jewel of the historic castle ensemble, offers an intimate setting for chamber music and solo concerts.
The concept of short snippets is the innovation of the Schlossnacht: concerts of around 20 minutes allow visitors to experience many artists in one evening without having to commit to a long program. Classical, jazz, pop, choir, folk, and crossover formats find a place in this sequence.
During the Schlossnacht, the historic center of Winsen becomes a stage. Light installations, food stalls, and a cultural supporting program give the evening a festive character. The patron is Mayor André Wiese, who underscores the importance of the Schlossnacht for Winsen's cultural life with his personal support.
The 11th edition in 2026 continues the innovative concept of the Schlossnacht. With its combination of historic settings, diverse musical offerings, and the unusual snippet format, the Schlossnacht stands out from traditional concert evenings.
The format has proven successful: it allows visitors to experience a wide range of musical diversity in a single night without having to commit to a single style.
The exact program for 2026 with the participating artists will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven concept:
