About Wine Festival Koblenz

The Wine Festival Koblenz is one of the most ambitious city wine festivals in Germany. Over two months—from early May to mid-July—around 20 individual events are spread across the entire city area of Koblenz and its districts. From the opening evening on Josef-Görres-Platz with Mayor David Langner, to the daily Uferbar (riverside bar) at the Schlosstreppe, to the grand closing festival WeinKaiserWein on July 11th, vintners from Mosel, Mittelrhein, Ahr, and Rheinhessen present their finest wines. Special formats such as Blaue Stunde (Blue Hour), Electronic Wine, Wein on the Water, Vinothek on Tour, and the Augusta Fest are integrated.

The Wine Festival Koblenz is the grand city wine festival of the Rhine city, focusing on wine culture for over two months. With its approximately 20 individual formats, the festival is one of the most ambitious of its kind in Germany and appeals to wine lovers as well as families, gourmets, and party-goers.

Concept

The Wine Festival takes advantage of Koblenz's location at the intersection of four German wine-growing regions: Mosel, Mittelrhein, Ahr, and Rheinhessen are all just a few kilometers from the city. Vintners from these regions present their wines in a variety of formats—from the elegant Uferbar to the electronic wine festival.

Opening and Highlights

The kick-off takes place on May 8, 2026, at 3 PM on Josef-Görres-Platz with the opening speech by Mayor David Langner and the first glass. Afterwards, the festival runs in several parallel strands:

  • Ufer-Bar at the Schlosstreppe — the daily centerpiece with wine service on the Rhine.
  • Blaue Stunde — Pop-Up wine bar opposite the Rhein-Mosel-Halle.
  • Electronic Wine — electronic music festival with wine pairing at the Deutsches Eck (June 18th to 20th).
  • Vinothek on Tour — changing locations in the Koblenz districts of Südstadt, Asterstein, Moselweiß, Horchheim.
  • Wein on the Water — floating wine cruise on the Rhine.
  • Augusta Fest — district festival on the Kaiserin-Augusta-Promenade from June 5th to 7th.
  • WeinKaiserWein — grand closing festival on July 11th.

Character

Unlike classic wine festivals, the Wine Festival is not concentrated on a single weekend but unfolds over two months. This allows guests to experience the festival in many different moods and settings—from a relaxed sundowner at the Uferbar to a salsa party in the Kuppelhalle. The food menu is tailored to the wines and ranges from classic Flammkuchen to Mediterranean tapas to regional street food creations.
