One of the oldest folk festivals in Thuringia – since 1854
The Wiesenfest Hirschberg an der Saale is one of the oldest folk festivals in Thuringia. First documented in 1854, the 170th edition was celebrated in 2024. The city of Hirschberg is the organizer, supported by showmen and local clubs.
The festival weekend spans four days and follows a set schedule: a quiet start on Thursday evening, Friday and Saturday with full festival activities and live music in the evening, and Sunday as a family day with the traditional fireworks finale. Showmen set up rides and stalls, and the large festival tent offers regional specialties and Thuringian classics.
Hirschberg is a small town in the Saale-Orla district in southern Thuringia, directly on the Saale river and the border with Bavaria. With just over 2,000 inhabitants, it is one of the smallest towns in Thuringia, but all the more traditional with its Wiesenfest.
The Wiesenfest is a traditional four-day event organized by the city of Hirschberg. Showmen set up rides and stalls, while the large festival tent offers culinary specialties and live music. The detailed program will be published in advance on stadt-hirschberg-saale.de.
Hirschberg is located on the A 9 motorway (Bad Lobenstein/Hirschberg exit). Approx. 25 minutes by car from Hof train station.
Free admission. Folk festival prices apply at stalls and for rides.
