The State Capital's Big City Centre Festival

The Wiesbaden City Festival is the largest late-summer city festival in Hesse's state capital — three days on which the entire pedestrian zone, Mauritiusplatz, and Warmer Damm are transformed into a festival mile. The organizer is Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, and the motto for 2026 is: "Your City – Your Stage".

Autumn Market with 60 Stalls

The core of the festival is the Autumn Market with around 60 stalls lining the pedestrian zone and at Mauritiusplatz: high-quality arts and crafts, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, regional wines, and specialities. It's the perfect place for those looking for gifts for autumn or simply wanting to stroll through Wiesbaden's architecture.

Thanksgiving at Warmer Damm — 36 Years of Tradition

At Warmer Damm (the parkland behind the Hessian State Theatre), the Thanksgiving festival runs concurrently, celebrating its 36th edition in 2026. Regional farmers, craft businesses, and associations showcase traditional crafts — hunting horn players, folk dance groups, and live music complete the offering. It smells of apple press, fresh bread, and sauerkraut here.

Six Action and Play Areas

Spread across the city centre are six action and play areas — from hands-on workshops for children to a small open-air lounge with a DJ set. Bands from the region play on the main stage at Mauritiusplatz.

Sunday Shopping

The highlight for many is the Sunday shopping on September 27th: Wiesbaden's city centre shops open their doors from 1 PM to 6 PM. Those who want to combine the city festival with a relaxed shopping stroll should plan their Sunday accordingly.

Wiesbaden in September

In September, the state capital is in a perfect climatic window: still warm enough for outdoor dining, mild enough for long walks through the Bismarcker Anlagen and Nerotal. The city festival captures this atmosphere — and gives it a stage.
