Three-day garden and lifestyle fair in the baroque monastery complex of Clarholz
Monastery complexes and gardens — few places combine tranquility, history, and plant culture as closely as Kloster Clarholz in the Gütersloh district. The former Premonstratensian provostry was founded in the 12th century and expanded in baroque splendor in the 17th/18th centuries. Today, it houses an extensive monastery garden that is part of the Route of Westphalian Garden and Park Culture. From June 12th to 14th, 2026, this very garden will become the stage for the Westphalian Garden Days Kloster Clarholz — a three-day garden and lifestyle fair with numerous exhibitors in plants, arts and crafts, and culinary delights.
The exhibitor profile of the Clarholz Garden Days ranges from perennial nurseries and rose growers to plant experts and bonsai specialists, as well as suppliers of high-quality garden furniture, outdoor fashion, floristry, ceramics, jewelry, and arts and crafts. Particularly appreciated are the numerous small manufactories and family businesses from Westphalia, which often have their only public presentation of the year here. The atmosphere of the monastery complex — brick facades, old trees, the geometric bed network of the monastery garden — forms the most beautiful possible setting for a weekend that appeals equally to lovers of plants, fashion, and culinary delights.
The organizer is Beekenhof Veranstaltungen GmbH from Westphalia, which hosts garden fairs in historic complexes throughout Germany — from Diersfordt Castle on the Lower Rhine and Hovestadt Castle to the Klosteranlage Clarholz. The high recognizability of the brand "Beekenhof Veranstaltungen" combines in Clarholz with the special history of the place — a format that has been firmly anchored in the event calendar of the Gütersloh district for years.
The Klosteranlage Clarholz, founded in 1133 as a Premonstratensianstift, passed into private ownership after secularization in 1803, but the monastery garden has been preserved as a cultural monument and is open to the public. It is part of the "Gardens in Westphalia-Lippe" route (gaerten-in-westfalen.de) and is one of the most important examples of monastic garden culture in NRW. The monastery church, the provost building, and the garden wall shape the ensemble — a backdrop that sets the Clarholz Garden Days apart from other garden fairs.
Herzebrock-Clarholz is a twin municipality in the Gütersloh district in East Westphalia-Lippe with around 17,000 inhabitants. It is located on the B 64 between Bielefeld and Gütersloh and is easily accessible via the A 2 (Rheda-Wiedenbrück exit). With its two monastery complexes (Herzebrock and Clarholz) and the rural Westphalian landscape of the Münsterland, the municipality is a preferred weekend excursion destination — and in June each year, the short period when Clarholz becomes a mecca for Westphalian plant lovers.
From June 12th to 14th, 2026, the monastery garden and forecourt of Clarholz will be the venue for one of Westphalia's most beautiful garden fairs. Exhibitors from the fields of perennial cultivation, floristry, outdoor furniture, fashion, arts and crafts, ceramics, and culinary manufactories will present themselves in the historic ambiance of the medieval monastery complex.
The fair is open continuously for three days, with a weekend admission of €9.50. Those looking for a spring excursion destination in the Münsterland will find a combination of garden culture, historic site, and Westphalian specialty cuisine here.
Exact daily opening hours and the complete exhibitor list will be published on the official website beekenhof-veranstaltungen.de.
