The Anniversary Schützenfest of the Bürger-Schützen-Verein Friedrichsdorf near Gütersloh
Founded on June 20, 1926, the Bürger-Schützen-Verein Friedrichsdorf celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026. For a century, the club has been the backbone of civic life in Friedrichsdorf, a district of Gütersloh in the heart of Ostwestfalen. With the anniversary Schützenfest from July 25 to 27, 2026, the BSV is setting a highlight that the entire district town will celebrate.
Schützenfeste (marksmen's festivals) hold a particularly high value in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. They are far more than just an event: they are an anchor of identity, a meeting place for generations, and a living testament to Westphalian club culture. The King's Shoot, the parade, the festival procession, and the coronation ball shape the proceedings, which have hardly changed over decades – and that is precisely what fascinates.
At the Schießheim St. Hubertus on Friedrichsdorfer Straße, the marksmen and markswomen train throughout the year. Club members meet every Thursday evening for practice, and shooting activities continue towards the festival day in 2026. The shooting range serves as a meeting place, club house, and festival hall all in one.
The anniversary year begins on February 14, 2026, with a festive winter ball at Haus Ohlmeyer and continues with numerous activities. The highlight is the Schützenfest itself: from Friday to Sunday, Friedrichsdorf is dedicated to shooting competitions, the bird and king's shoot, the festival procession, the coronation, and a grand festival ball. Chairperson Birgit Aschentrup and secretary Sandra Peter are leading the anniversary committee.
Friedrichsdorf is a rural district in the south of Gütersloh, nestled in the typical Ostwestfalen landscape between meadows and farmsteads. The Gütersloh district is one of the strongholds of marksmen's clubs in North Rhine-Westphalia – hardly a village that doesn't have its own marksmen's brotherhood. The BSV's anniversary fits into a dense array of Ostwestfalen marksmen's traditions and is also a highlight in itself.
The anniversary year is accompanied by a commemorative publication, special exhibitions on the club's history, and meetings with friendly marksmen's clubs from the entire Gütersloh district. Anyone who wants to celebrate along is warmly welcomed in Friedrichsdorf – whether as a guest, a visiting club, or a curious visitor.
For its 100th anniversary, the BSV Friedrichsdorf invites you to a grand anniversary Schützenfest. The festival days begin on Saturday afternoon with the assembly of the marksmen, flag ceremony, and bird shoot. On Sunday, the festival procession through Friedrichsdorf and the ceremonial coronation of the King and Queen are the focus. Monday brings the traditional closing festival with a festival ball.
The anniversary is accompanied by special events such as the winter ball in February, a ceremonial act on the founding day, and visits from friendly marksmen's clubs from the Gütersloh district.
