Open-air summer series on the promenade directly by the sea
As the season begins on Sylt and the island's beaches slowly fill up, the Wenningstedter KliffKlang also kicks off. The free concert series from the Sylt municipality of Wenningstedt-Braderup brings music directly to the promenade — with the waves of the North Sea as the soundscape and the famous Sylt sunset as the stage backdrop. Around 25 dates are spread across three venues between June and September 2026, all from 6 PM to 10 PM.
The Düneneck is located north of the main promenade, overlooking the dune landscape and the sea. It hosts five band nights — mostly on Mondays. The Haupttreppe connects the promenade and the beach and is the venue for the 15 DJ nights of the Wenningstedt series. Featuring NDR N-JOY DJ Christian Lidsba from Hamburg, who accompanies his sets with changing live musicians on saxophone, violin, or percussion. The Saal-am-Kliff-Terrasse, high above the beach, is the stage for the five singer-songwriter Sundays — intimate sets with songwriting intensity against a maritime panorama.
A total of around 20 different artists will perform. The range extends from acoustic singer-songwriters and cover bands to DJs who blend electronic sets with live instruments. The opening event — an "Easter Warm Up" with electronic beats and saxophone — takes place on April 1, 2026; after that, the series pauses until the official season start on June 22.
Wenningstedt-Braderup is the second-largest municipality on Sylt, located between Westerland and Kampen. Famous for its wide sandy beach and the Rotes Kliff (Red Cliff), which truly glows red in the evening sun. For years, the municipality has positioned itself as a family-oriented alternative to the more sophisticated Kampen — and the KliffKlang series is one of the highlights of its summer cultural program. Free admission (weather permitting). The state of Schleswig-Holstein and the district of Nordfriesland support the format as an example of vibrant island culture.
The 2026 summer series starts on June 22 and runs until the end of August. On selected Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays, concerts will take place at Düneneck, Haupttreppe, and on the Saal-am-Kliff-Terrasse. A total of around 25 dates are planned — featuring bands, DJs, and singer-songwriters, all with free admission against the spectacular backdrop of Sylt's west coast.
