Since 2002, the Weinparade has marked the festive conclusion of the Würzburg wine festival season, attracting locals and visitors from all over Lower Franconia. A Wine Festival with Standards in the Heart of Würzburg

The Weinparade Würzburg is one of the most distinctive wine festivals in Bavaria. On the Unterer Marktplatz, framed by the baroque architecture of the Lower Franconian district capital, the Würzburg festival hosts serve over a hundred Franconian wines and sparkling wines by the glass. Unlike a classic Volksfest (traditional folk festival), the focus here is on quality: wines of all quality classes are served, from uncomplicated Silvaner Schoppen to lusciously sweet ice wine.

History and Concept

The Weinparade was founded in 2002 with the idea of making Franconian wines accessible by the glass in their full spectrum. Originally located on Paradeplatz, the festival moved to the Unterer Markt in 2008, where it has been firmly established ever since. The Weinparade is organized by the Würzburger Festwirte e.V. association, which unites five renowned catering businesses from the city under one roof.

Culinary Delights and Atmosphere

Each of the participating businesses contributes its own menu, so the culinary offerings go far beyond what most wine festivals provide. The selection ranges from Franconian snacks to regional specialties and seasonal menus. The lunch service starts daily from 11 am, making the Weinparade a popular meeting point during the day as well.

Themed Evenings

  • Pink Monday – Rosé wine evening
  • Princess Day with a special program
  • Single Party for meeting people over a glass of wine
  • Spritz Time with wine cocktails and aperitifs

Regional Context

Würzburg is the unofficial capital of Franconian wine and is located in the state of Bavaria, in a district-free city surrounded by the Würzburg district. The steep vineyards along the Main River, especially the Würzburger Stein, have shaped the city for centuries. The Weinparade traditionally marks the end of the Würzburg wine festival season, making it a final, atmospheric highlight in the Franconian wine year.
