Rheinhessen meets Lüneburger Heide
The Weinfest Wrestedt is a beautiful encounter between two German landscapes: the wine-rich hills of Rheinhessen and the vast heath and forest landscape of Lower Saxony. On Friday evening, June 6, 2026, the association Dorfleben Wrestedt e.V. will bring vintners from the Rheinhessen route to the Bürgerpark of the heath village.
Bürgerpark as the Ideal Setting
The Bürgerpark Wrestedt on Borner Weg (K17) is a green oasis with old trees, meadows, and seating areas. In summer, it offers the ideal backdrop for a relaxed open-air festival: ample space, pleasant evening lighting, and the freedom to move between the stalls. Those who wish can bring a picnic blanket and make themselves comfortable on the lawn.
Rheinhessen Wines
The focus is on the wines of a Rheinhessen vintner. The spectrum ranges from fresh, slightly sparkling Riesling to aromatic Müller-Thurgau, full-bodied Grauburgunder, to robust Spätburgunders, and possibly sweet late harvests. The vintner will explain the grape varieties, growing regions, and the peculiarities of the vintage — a small wine education session under the open sky.
Accompanying Food Offerings
Wine is accompanied by suitable food: pretzels in various forms, regional cheese (often Heidekäse and sheep's cheese from North German dairies), and grilled sausage for a savory option. The selection is manageable and focused on quality — the wine is clearly the star.
Village Community at the Center
The wine festival is part of the association's purpose of Dorfleben Wrestedt e.V.: organizing community-building events, keeping village life active, and enabling encounters between generations. Anyone wanting to learn about the association and its activities is in the right place — the members will be present and happy to chat.
A Relaxed Summer Evening
The format of the wine festival is deliberately relaxed: no loud music, no hectic program, just good wine, good food, good conversation in the park under the open sky. Those looking for a quiet summer evening with a touch of indulgence will find the right offer in Wrestedt.
