The travelling wine festival from Tauberfranken visits Weingut Alte Grafschaft am Main
Schöpple is one of the oldest wine festivals on the Bavarian-Baden-Württemberg border of the Main river. Instead of staying at the fixed Wertheim market square, it leaves its home base once a year under the name „Schöpple ON TOUR“ and travels to one of the Tauberfranken wineries. In 2026, Weingut Alte Grafschaft in the Bavarian town of Kreuzwertheim will be the host location — directly opposite Wertheim on the Main river, in the Main-Spessart district.
The Schöpple concept brings together four regional wineries that serve their wines at a joint stand:
The menu features primarily Franconian wines and Tauberfranken specialities — from Silvaner and Bacchus to Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder, Riesling, and noble Spätlesen.
Accompanying the wine, two renowned restaurateurs from the surrounding area serve their dishes: the Landgasthof „Zum Kaffelstein“ from Kreuzwertheim and the Landgasthof Waldeck from Neuenbuch. Their repertoire includes regional classics such as Schäufele, Franconian flour-based dishes, Bratwurst, and game dishes.
Kreuzwertheim is located on the right bank of the Main river in the extreme northwest of Bavaria, opposite the Baden-Württemberg town of Wertheim. The region is called Mainviereck or Tauberfranken and is part of the Franconian wine-growing region. Weingut Alte Grafschaft is known for its steep-slope wines and is also represented internationally at ProWein in Düsseldorf. A visit to Schöpple ON TOUR can be ideally combined with a walk to Wertheim Castle or a boat trip on the Main river.
The 2026 stop of Schöpple ON TOUR will take place on Friday, July 4th, and Saturday, July 5th, 2026, from 6 PM to 11 PM each day at Weingut Alte Grafschaft in Kreuzwertheim (Rathausgasse 5).
The menu will feature steep-slope wines and selected vintages from the four participating wineries, along with culinary accompaniments from the region. Live music will create the atmosphere. Admission is free, and no advance registration is necessary.
The live music will be announced shortly before the event on the Schöpple program page.
