Walpurgis spectacle with children's program, live music, and fireworks in the Kurpark Bad Lauterberg
The Walpurgis spectacle in the Kurpark Bad Lauterberg is one of the most well-attended Walpurgis celebrations in the southern Harz. The venue is the expansive spa park with its pond, which provides an ideal stage for light installations and fireworks. Bad Lauterberg, a recognized Kneipp spa town on the edge of the southern Harz, uses the event as a central tourist attraction on April 30th.
Characteristic of the Bad Lauterberg Walpurgis Night is the extensive children's program, which runs from the start until 9 PM. The fairy tale character of the witch Waldpurga, who guides through the program, is at the center. Children can obtain their witch's broom license after completing several stations, and craft activities allow them to build their own witch hats and collect spells.
The musical opening in the early evening is provided by the brass band SchaPö – a traditional Bad Lauterberg brass orchestra – starting at 7 PM with a festive Walpurgis program. From 8 PM, the rock band Rock Seven takes over the stage, providing the main stage phase of the evening with cover classics from rock and pop.
At 10 PM, the grand fireworks display will be launched over the Kurpark pond. The water surface reflects the light effects, making the fireworks the visual highlight of the Walpurgis Night. Afterwards, the program continues until 11:45 PM, ensuring the entire evening from 6 PM until shortly before midnight is continuously programmed.
The 2026 edition continues the proven multi-generational format: children's program until the early evening, followed by a musical open-air program and culminating in fireworks. The Walpurgis Night in Bad Lauterberg is one of the firmly established dates in the southern Harz Walpurgis calendar and complements the parallel events in Bad Sachsa, Bad Grund, and Osterode.
