With the Weinfest am Marktplatz Schönberg, the center of the Schönberg market in the Bavarian Forest transforms into an open-air wine lounge for a weekend. The festival is organized by the volleyball division of TSV Schönberg, which traditionally celebrates the start of August and simultaneously finances the club's activities.

Wine, Delicacies, and Atmosphere

On the market square in front of the historic row of houses, club members serve selected wines, from dry Riesling and Silvaner to smooth rosé wines and cuvées. The support team also serves regional delicacies, small tapas variations, and cocktails. The mix of a summer terrace, stools, and standing tables, along with acoustic accompaniment from a small stage, creates a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.

Nestled in the Bavarian Forest Holiday Region

Schönberg is located in the Freyung-Grafenau district in the state of Bavaria and belongs to the Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald holiday region. The wine festival is one of the community's most popular summer events, attracting many local residents as well as holiday guests from surrounding guesthouses, holiday apartments, and hiking areas. It complements Schönberg's trio of annual events: the Volksfest in June, the Weinfest in August, and smaller club festivals throughout the year.

A Festival for a Good Cause

The entire volleyball family association of TSV Schönberg is behind the wine festival: active members, youth teams, coaches, and parents all pitch in together. The net proceeds flow entirely into the youth development and playing activities of the volleyball players. So, by attending, you directly support sports in the Schönberg market.
