Spring wine event of the Bodenheim vintners with insights into wineries, vineyards, and new vintages
Bodenheim is one of the best-known wine communities in Rheinhessen, located directly on the Rhine between Mainz and Oppenheim. The Bodenheim vineyards such as Burgweg, Hoch, Silberberg, and Mönchspfad are among the most renowned in the region. The local wineries maintain a strong tradition of events, to which the [W]EINBLICK format makes a special contribution.
The pun [W]EINBLICK – formed from “Wein” (wine) and “Einblick” (insight) – is the program. The event sees itself as an open house day for the Bodenheim vintners at the start of the season. On a Sunday in March, when the vines are still dormant and work in the cellar is imminent or has just been completed, the participating wineries present their new vintages: the young, freshly bottled white wines, the rosés, the first pre-tastings of red wines.
Visitors go from winery to winery, meet the vintner families in their tasting rooms, wine shops, or courtyards, and can taste, ask questions, and learn in a relaxed atmosphere. The focus is on direct dialogue with the producers – about the vineyard site, the season, the work in the cellar, the style of the wines. Those who wish can taste wines and buy them directly on site.
Some wineries offer small dishes: Spundekäs, Handkäs, bread, quiche, soups, sausage variations. Others cooperate with local restaurateurs who are present with pop-up stands. In good weather, small sunny meeting points emerge in the winery courtyards; in cool weather, the tastings move into the heated tasting rooms.
[W]EINBLICK is a format that reflects the cultural change in the Rhenish-Hessian wine scene: away from a pure wine festival, towards a more differentiated, conversation-oriented encounter between producers and consumers. The concept has proven itself and is a fixed date in Bodenheim's spring calendar.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept for the start of the season: decentralized tastings at several wineries, personal dialogue with the vintners, new vintages, and complementary culinary offerings.
The exact program and the list of participating wineries for 2026 will be published by the municipality of Bodenheim in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
