Franconian Kärwa in the Nürnberger Land district
The Kirchweih Happurg takes place in the municipality of Happurg, located in the Nürnberger Land district of Middle Franconia in southern Bavaria — idyllically situated by Lake Happurg. The 'Happurger Kirwa' is one of the region's established Kirchweih dates and is supported by the Kirwa-Verein Happurg e.V. (Kirchweih association).
Customs and Festivities
The Kirchweih spans several days, combining traditional Franconian customs with lively festivities. The central element is the decorated Kirchweihbaum (maypole); this is accompanied by entertainment, music, and social gatherings, organized by local associations.
Church Service
A festive church service is held as part of the Kirchweih (on Kirchweih Sunday at 9:30 AM), organized by the Happurg/Kainsbach parish. The Kirchweih commemorates the consecration of the local church and is an expression of village identity.
Happurg and Lake Happurg
Its location by Lake Happurg makes Happurg a popular destination in the Nürnberger Land district. In addition to the main village Kirchweih, there are other smaller Kirchweihen in the municipality (including in See, Schupf, Deckersberg, and Kainsbach), reflecting the region's rich Kärwa traditions.

For 2026, the Kirchweih Happurg is confirmed for August 13–17 according to the event calendar of the municipality of Happurg. The festive church service will be held on Kirchweih Sunday, August 16, at 9:30 AM (Happurg/Kainsbach parish).
Throughout the festival days, the decorated Kirchweihbaum, festivities, music, and convivial customs characterize the Happurger Kirwa, supported by the Kirwa-Verein Happurg e.V. Additionally, the Kirchweih in See takes place on July 5, 2026.
