70th anniversary edition of the Wine and Heritage Festival at Veldenz Castle Ruins with the 45th International Vintage Car Rally and historical parade
In 2026, the Wine and Heritage Festival in Veldenz looks back on seventy years of tradition. First established in 1957, the event has evolved over seven decades into one of the most important Mosel events in the Lieser Valley. The 2026 anniversary edition honours this long tradition with a particularly rich festival programme.
The festival venues are the village centre of Veldenz and the Veldenz Castle Ruins located directly above – the historic landmark that gave the former county its name. The castle ruins provide an impressive backdrop and are used for parts of the festival programme. The Mülheim Market, held a few days later, recalls the same historical tradition of the Counts of Veldenz.
One of the festival's main attractions is the International Vintage Car Rally, which celebrates its 45th edition in 2026. Historic vehicles from Germany and neighbouring countries will converge on Veldenz via various routes, meeting in the village for a grand exhibition. The rally is one of the most important vintage car gatherings in the region, attracting collectors, enthusiasts, and spectators from all over Europe.
A historical parade is the most traditional element of the festival. Associations, costume groups, music bands, carnival clubs, and historical reenactment groups, along with the vintage car participants, will march through the village together. Concurrently, local vintners will be serving their wines by the glass, regional dishes will be offered, and several stages will provide music and entertainment.
The 2026 anniversary edition honours seven decades of tradition with a particularly rich programme. The event combines three elements: the wine and customs aspect of the heritage festivals, the vintage car aspect of the international rally, and the historical aspect centred around Veldenz Castle Ruins.
The participating vintage cars come from all over Europe and are closely watched by enthusiasts and spectators.
The exact 2026 programme will be published by the organiser in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
