Family Day with Games, Activities, and Maritime Flair in the Sielort Greetsiel
Greetsiel is one of the most beautiful harbor towns in Lower Saxony. Its car-free center with the bustling Sielhafen, the crab cutters, and the twin mills provides the ideal backdrop for a family festival. The Greetsiel Children's Festival utilizes this maritime atmosphere and complements it with imaginative play and craft offerings that allow young guests to immerse themselves in East Frisia's world of sailors, fishermen, and mills.
The program is spread across the town center and the Sielhafen. At various stations, children can craft small boats, model sandcastles, get their faces painted, romp on bouncy castles, or participate in playful competitions. The offerings are supplemented by a hands-on circus, face painting, a balloon artist, and small stage shows with storytelling, puppet shows, and music for the little ones. Parents can find food and seating in the adjacent market square and relaxedly follow the events.
Admission to the Children's Festival is free, as is participation in most of the play stations. A small material donation may be requested for some activities. The event is organized by the Krummhörn-Greetsiel Tourism GmbH in cooperation with local clubs and sponsors. The Greetsiel Children's Festival is considered one of the highlights of the Krummhörn's summer event series and attracts families from East Frisia and the nearby North Sea islands year after year.
Local shops, cafés, and restaurants participate with special children's offers, tastings, and small window display activities. This creates a festive day that involves the entire Sielort and makes the connection between tourism, trade, and community life visible.
The Greetsiel Children's Festival 2026 utilizes the car-free town center, the market square, and the Sielhafen for a decentralized family program. Parents can wander from station to station, enjoying the maritime flair of the Sielort along the way.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in early summer. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years.
