Kerb on the Lower Main — Customs with their own rites
The Kerb (Kirchweih) has its own style in the Bavarian Lower Main region — together with the Hessian Odenwald and Spessart, the region forms a contiguous cultural landscape with rites such as the Gickelschlag (ritual rooster fight) and the Hammelauktion (wether auction). The Weilbacher Kerb is one of the best-preserved examples.
The Kerbeborsch 6091 Weilbach e.V.
The registered association Kerbeborsch 6091 Weilbach was founded in April 2001 and has been organizing the festival ever since. The name plays on the postal code 63937 (Bavaria starts with "6", Hessian 6091 are the neighbors) and the traditional role of unmarried men ("Borsch" in the Palatinate/Lower Main dialect) who organize the Kerb.
