Five-day Kerb tradition from Kerbeborsch 6091 e.V.
The Kerb (Kirchweih) has its own style in the Bavarian Lower Main region — together with the Hessian Odenwald and Spessart, the region forms a contiguous cultural landscape with rites such as the Gickelschlag (ritual rooster fight) and the Hammelauktion (wether auction). The Weilbacher Kerb is one of the best-preserved examples.
The registered association Kerbeborsch 6091 Weilbach was founded in April 2001 and has been organizing the festival ever since. The name plays on the postal code 63937 (Bavaria starts with "6", Hessian 6091 are the neighbors) and the traditional role of unmarried men ("Borsch" in the Palatinate/Lower Main dialect) who organize the Kerb.
Weilbach is a municipality in the Miltenberg district, Bavaria, on the edge of the Bavarian Lower Main region. The region around Miltenberg, Amorbach, and Weilbach is characterized by the Main river loop, Franconian-Hessian mixed influences, and a vibrant club life. For decades, the Kerb has been the social highlight of the village — many returning locals come back to experience the festival days together.
The program for the Weilbacher Kerb 2026 has been officially announced by Kerbeborsch 6091 Weilbach e.V. As always, the festival begins with the tradition evening on Friday (7 p.m.) at Haus am Weilbach. On Saturday, the festival tree will be raised at 11 a.m., the official opening will take place at 4 p.m., followed by the beer tapping at 7 p.m. and a dance with the band "...eine Band namens WANDA" at the Juxplatz.
Sunday features the ecumenical service (10:30 a.m.), the Frühschoppen (11:15 a.m.), and in the afternoon, coffee & cake, with proceeds donated to children's cancer aid. Monday (lunch at 11:30 a.m.) has its centerpiece at 6 p.m. with the Gickelschlag and the subsequent Hammelauktion. On Tuesday at 8 p.m., the Kerbeverbrennung provides the symbolic conclusion.
