Advent Magic in the South Harz

The Zorge Christmas Market is one of the most authentic small Advent markets in the southern Harz. Zorge itself is a state-recognized health resort on the southern edge of the Harz, nestled in a wooded hilly landscape and a popular hiking destination for generations. During Advent, the village shows itself from a particularly atmospheric side: the houses are decorated with fairy lights and fir branches, and the village center becomes the scene of a small but charming Christmas market.

Stalls and Offerings

At the market, visitors will find a carefully curated selection of stalls offering arts and crafts, handmade items, Christmas decorations, and small gift ideas from the region. Associations, schools, and private individuals from Zorge and the surrounding area present their products and collect donations for charitable causes. Culinarily, the usual and beloved offerings are available: mulled wine, children's punch, hot chocolate, bratwurst, waffles, crêpes, and roasted almonds provide pre-Christmas delights.

The Zorge Christmas Market is integrated into the Advent program of the municipality of Walkenried, which includes Wieda and Walkenried itself in addition to Zorge. Thus, it joins a whole series of pre-Christmas events in the region and offers an opportunity to experience the South Harz Advent tradition in an authentic village setting.
