Ten-day Christmas market on the market square from December 11 to 20, 2026 — with medieval market in front of the Alexanderkirche and Rotary raffle
The Wildeshausen Christmas market is one of the most established Advent markets in the district of Oldenburg. For ten days from December 11 to 20, 2026, the city marketing team will transform the market square and surrounding streets into a festive market and meeting place.
In parallel, from December 11 to 13, the Medieval Christmas Market will take place in front of the Alexanderkirche — a separate event organized by the Nordischer Marktvolk, which further shapes the cityscape. On the final evening of the main market (Sunday, December 20), the grand raffle of the Rotary Club Wildeshausen will attract visitors from 6 p.m. with a top prize worth around 17,000 euros.
The historic market square with its facades forms the ideal backdrop for the Wildeshausen Christmas market. Rows of wooden huts offer handicrafts, regional specialties, mulled wine, and snacks. Several seating areas under heated pavilions create a pleasant atmosphere. The Christmas lights in the city center and the central fir tree complete the festive picture.
On weekdays, the market is open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. These opening hours cater to both after-work visitors from Wildeshausen and weekend visitors from the entire district and the Bremen/Oldenburg region.
From December 11 to 13, 2026, the 11th Medieval Christmas Market will also take place in front of the Alexanderkirche, organized by the Nordischer Marktvolk. Here, displays, medieval crafts, mead, and roast suckling pig characterize the scene. Both markets complement each other spatially and thematically and are usually visited during the same city stroll.
The final evening of the main market is traditionally organized by the Rotary Club Wildeshausen: from 6 p.m., the grand raffle will take place, with proceeds benefiting social and charitable projects in Wildeshausen. The main prize is traditionally a car worth around 17,000 euros, along with hundreds of other prizes.
The Christmas market is organized by Stadtmarketing Wildeshausen. The team coordinates stallholders, lighting, stage program, and cooperation with the police, emergency services, and the city administration. With this market, Stadtmarketing concludes its event year 2026.
The 2026 edition of the Wildeshausen Christmas market runs from December 11 to 20 on the market square. For ten days, stallholders will offer handicrafts, mulled wine, and snacks. In parallel, from December 11 to 13, the Medieval Christmas Market will take place in front of the Alexanderkirche.
The highlight is the Rotary raffle on Sunday evening, December 20, from 6 p.m., with a top prize of approximately 17,000 euros. Organizer: Stadtmarketing Wildeshausen.
With a ten-day run, the Wildeshausen Christmas market is one of the longer-running Advent formats in the district of Oldenburg. The opening hours — weekdays 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., weekends 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. — cover both weekday after-work routines and weekend family visits.
Wooden huts with handicrafts, ceramics, gifts, jewelry, and regional food products. Mulled wine, punch, tea, bratwurst, roasted almonds, and other classic snack offerings. Heated seating areas under pavilions ensure a pleasant atmosphere even in cold weather.
