58th Parkfest Oppin

A Village Festival with a Long History

The Parkfest in Oppin is one of the most traditional village festivals in southern Saxony-Anhalt. Since the late 1960s, the Oppin district of the town of Landsberg has gathered every year on the 2nd weekend in June in the village park for a joint summer festival. In 2026, the event will enter its 58th edition — a remarkable continuity, maintained only through the commitment of local heritage and sports clubs, the fire brigade, and the town.

The festival follows the tradition of East German village park festivals, as were common in many communities during GDR times — organized collectively, with a stage, bratwurst, beer, a tombola, and dance music. In Oppin, this tradition has remained alive since reunification and is now jointly supported by the local heritage association and the town of Landsberg.

Program Structure

The Parkfest traditionally runs over three days:

• Friday evening — Opening with a disco night for the younger generation
• Saturday — Market activities, games, and sports during the day, main stage with regional bands in the evening
• Sunday — Morning pint with brass music, stage program for all generations, traditional Skat tournament

Oppin and Landsberg

Oppin is a district of the town of Landsberg in the Saalekreis district, north of Halle (Saale) in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The municipality is located between Halle and Bitterfeld in the historically agricultural Saale floodplain. The village park, where the Parkfest takes place, is one of the central social hubs of the district — a meeting point for club activities, family walks, and of course, the annual Parkfest.
