20,000 LED lights on the Alter Markt of the Marienstadt
The Jever Christmas market is a visual highlight. 20,000 LED lights are spread across the Alter Markt and surrounding streets, bathing the historic town center in a warm, fairytale-like glow. The staging is one of the most elaborate in the region.
The typical half-timbered stalls of the Christmas markets host artisans with regional products: woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, candles, Christmas decorations, textiles. Food stalls offer mulled wine, eggnog, bratwurst, gingerbread, potato pancakes, and Frisian specialties.
A classic children's carousel brings joy to little ones. St. Nicholas visits the market several times during the market season, distributing small gifts to the young guests.
Advent concerts – choirs, brass bands, bands – regularly provide musical highlights. The exact dates will be published in the program by the City of Jever.
With opening hours from Sunday to Thursday 12 PM to 8 PM and Friday to Saturday 12 PM to 9 PM, the market is open almost daily, offering numerous opportunities for a visit. Its run time of almost five weeks makes it one of the longest Christmas markets in Lower Saxony.
The historic city center of the Marienstadt – with its castle, brewery, and half-timbered houses – provides a beautiful backdrop for the Christmas market. Many visitors combine their market visit with a stroll through the city.
The 2026 edition continues the long-standing tradition. The exact date will be confirmed by the City of Jever in autumn and is expected to be from November 24th to December 30th – based on the rhythm of previous years.
