Six weeks of all-inclusive Christmas market on the Spree waterfront
While most Berlin Christmas markets offer free entry and pay-as-you-go at the stalls, "Weihnachten an der Spree" takes a radically different approach: You book a ticket, enter the festival grounds at Spreespeicher, and within your booked time, you can eat and drink everything offered — mulled wine, draft beer, wine, sparkling wine, soft drinks, punch, hot chocolate. The food stands offer flambéed salmon, bratwurst, waffles, crêpes, and more. The concept caters to the desire for a cozy, carefree Christmas celebration without constant wallet acrobatics.
The venue is the Spreespeicher, a historic office building from the 1920s directly on the southern Spree riverbank in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district. From the courtyard, you look out at the iconic Oberbaum Bridge, which connects Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, and across the Spree to the East Side Gallery. For years, the industrial ensemble has provided one of Berlin's most atmospheric event backdrops and now houses restaurants, bars, and event spaces.
The offer is tiered into three categories: In the open Christmas market area with fire pits, standing tables, and a beach vibe on the Spree riverbank, entry starts at €29.99. For those who prefer it warmer, book the heated VIP tent with seating from €67. For the full winter gastronomy experience, there's the indoor Christmas dinner from €79.99 — with a four-course menu and festive table decorations. All three categories follow the all-inclusive principle.
The program goes beyond food and drink: Classic winter market games like "Nageln" (a nail-driving competition on a wooden beam) and curling await on the festival grounds — also all-inclusive, of course. The open atmosphere, the fire pits, and the direct waterfront location make the evening an urban yet cozy winter experience. The Spreespeicher team also offers private events for 2 to 200 people for companies and groups.
