Glühwald — a Different Concept

While most Berlin Christmas markets operate with stalls and alleys, Glühwald takes a different approach: the organizer stages the Uber Platz as a winter forest with heated wooden huts, open fire counters, a starry sky, and magical lights. The mulled wine selection is broader and more creative than usual — classics, varieties with berry notes, vintner's mulled wine, non-alcoholic options. Accompanied by bratwurst, crêpes, roasted almonds, vegetarian options, and hot drinks. The concept works without the hustle and bustle of the large city center markets: compact, atmospheric, cozy.

Location: Uber Platz in Friedrichshain

The Uber Platz (formerly Mercedes-Benz-Platz) is located in front of the Uber Arena in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, part of Friedrichshain — right next to the Mercedes-Benz Arena (now Uber Arena), the Uber Eats Music Hall, and the East Side Mall. The location is ideal in terms of transport links: S-Bahn Warschauer Straße is a 10-minute walk away, U-Bahn U1 also Warschauer Straße. During concerts at the Uber Arena or events at the Music Hall, Glühwald is also open after the usual closing times — so concert-goers can enjoy a mulled wine in the forest setting before or after the show.

Who is Behind Glühwald

The concept is operated by a consortium of organizers from Berlin and Zwickau. In recent years, Glühwald has opened additional branches in Germany besides the Berlin location. The Berlin location has been established for several years and is one of the "modern" Berlin Christmas markets — alongside Holy Shit Shopping, Christmas Garden in the Botanical Garden, and Heißa Holzmarkt. For groups (10 to 100+ people), Glühwald offers group packages with a private wooden hut and drinks starting at €53.50 per person.

Friedrichshain in Advent

The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district now hosts several small and large Christmas markets — from the RAW site (HOLY HEIMAT, Heißa Holzmarkt) to the East Side Mall (Holiday Market) and Boxhagener Platz. Glühwald stands out with its well-designed forest concept and is one of the better addresses for Berliners who value atmosphere and the quality of mulled wine over the quantity of stalls.
